Rarely have I come across a book that left me so transfixed as this one. Reading and rereading each part word for word took me to a third space where time seemed to have taken a pause and became infinite.
Before I'd began to read this book, I was at a point where everything about my existence felt so wrong and static; a recurring point when I felt I'd been living another destiny,leaving mine unexplored. Reading, at times whenever I get this kind of feeling, has always been a getaway and as I perused my library in search of what to read,I made a stop at this particular book. And from the first page,I couldn't stop till I got to the end. Talk about Omens..😏
Amongst many notable lessons to takeaway from this bedrock of wisdom, Paulo teaches us about Love; that one is loved because one is loved,that there shouldn't ever be a reason for loving someone. He also teaches us to learn not to dwell neither in the past nor the future,but to be interested and concentrate rather on the present alone. Then,shall one be happy and live life as though it were a party.
In order to make one's dreams come true,one must learn to not be afraid. Like the Alchemist said, "there is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve; fear of failure". Even when you fail,and fall seven times,the secret in life is to rise eight times.
Belief,too,becomes a vital tool in the quest for our dreams. The Alchemist opens one's eyes to understand that everything in life depends on one word, 'Maktub!' That everything has been written by one hand.
However,the vital lessons in this book are inexhaustible. I love that Paulo Coelho writes with so much brilliance and shimmering elegance, birthing this exotic,heartwarming book infused with magic,dreams and wisdom.
